 Dear Artisan,

You are invited to apply for participation in the 8^th annual Jordan Art Festival.  This juried event takes place in Water Street which is lined by buildings dating from the beginnings of our town. 

In downtown Jordan, you’ll be part of a limited cast of as many as 75 characters whose art is enhanced by a canvas of buildings protected on the National Register of Historic Places. Scott County’s only outdoor art festival piggybacks last year’s inaugural Art Crawl, offering you a chance to be part of a second, up-and-coming, premiere destination event. One key to our success is you. We need great artists to display their best work available for purchase and demonstrate how it is made. Attendees are sure to enjoy learning, as well as buying, from you.

Advertising in the Star Tribune’s South West Metro section as well as in Southwest Newspapers and the smaller local papers in our county draws people locally and regionally.  In addition, marketing brochures are available for each artist to mail out using his or her own mailing list. Altogether, we routinely see a combined attendance of more than 2,500 taking advantage of this opportunity to view and purchase your quality work. 

Booth placement and assignments are determined by the show committee.  Set up time begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday.  Vehicles are not allowed along the event route after 9:30 a.m. either day or before 5 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.  All items needed for display are to be provided by the artist including tables, tents, chairs, signage, labor, etc. If you are signing up to rent space in the group tent, the tent is provided.  The show ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.  No early dismantling of displays is allowed.  The show goes on “rain or shine”.  Each artist is responsible to secure their items overnight between show days.  Police surveillance is limited.

This activity funded, in part, by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008 and presented locally by the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce and area businesses.

Applications and Entry Fees: Applying artists may choose from the following categories: 

Exhibiting Artist with 12' x 12' outside space: $55 Registration Fee if application ispostmarked by March 31, 2011, $65 Registration Fee if postmarked after March 31, 2011.

Photos are Required for Jury Process

Submit 4 photos with your application that are representative of your work. Photos may be submitted as prints, slides or digitally via CD, DVD or e-mail. E-mail submissions should be sent to editor@jordannews.com. 
 

Sales Tax

It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to charge and collect Minnesota State Sales Tax. Please include with this application a copy of the state required ST19 form available at www.taxes.state.mn.us/forms/st19.pdf, or call 651-282-5225 for information or to apply for a number. We must have this form on file in order for you to participate in the Jordan Art Festival. 

A copy of your MN State Sales Tax permit must be displayed in your booth at all times.


Demonstration Credit

One of our goals is to provide an educational and interactive arts experience for all participants. We encourage exhibitors to make their booths into demonstration showcases. Artists may apply for demonstration credit of $25 per day. To qualify for credit, attending artists must demonstrate one or more aspects of their artistic process or technique at scheduled times throughout the day. These may be two sessions of 1/2 hour each or 4 sessions of 15 minutes each per day.

Demonstration times will be scheduled by the Art Festival Committee. Artists should provide backup help for their booths to handle sales during these posted demonstration times.

Digital Images Needed for Advertising Purposes: If you are willing to let the Jordan Art Festival planning committee use your art for advertising purposes, send digital photos to the Jordan Art Festival at editor@jordannews.com . Include a note stating the Jordan Art Festival has permission to use these for purposes of advertising the festival.

General Release 

The undersigned does hereby discharge, release and hold harmless, the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce and its related Jordan Art Festival Committee (including the City of Jordan, property owners, business owners and other associations) and all co-sponsors from any and all manner of action, suits, damages or claims whatsoever arising from any loss or damages or claims, to the person or property of the undersigned while in possession or under the supervision of the sponsors during the festival, and hereby consents to enforcement of all rules of this event. 

Furthermore, the undersigned artist hereby certifies that all display work is handcrafted and created by the seller. Participant understands that any mass produced item on display can cause possible expulsion from the show. 

There are no rain dates. There will be no refunds after May 15, 2011 on artist cancellations. If accepted, the Jordan Art Festival Committee has the undersigned person's permission to use submitted artwork, slides or photographs for the purpose of advertising and marketing the festival. The Jordan Art Festival Committee also has permission to publish photographs or videos taken of the undersigned as well as of the booth and work during the Festival for purposes related to promotion of the festival, past or future. 

The undersigned recognizes that management reserves the right to disqualify any exhibitor causing any problems to fellow exhibitors or management, and that failure to comply with the Jordan Art Festival rules and regulations may result in expulsion from any and/or all future events. Management reserves the right to make final interpretation of all rules.
